Turck Rugged Inductive Sensors With E1 Type Approval

-- Product News, 18/4/2008

Turck has developed a new series of inductive sensors that are specially tailored to the harsh requirements of mobile applications in utility vehicles. According to Turk, high switching distances and rugged housings, together with an application electronics unit and state-of-the-art production technologies, ensure an outstandingly high level of long-term stability. The suitability of the sensors for use in vehicles has been confirmed by the e1 type approval issued by the German Federal Motor Transport Authority.

The new Turck sensors operate in an extended temperature range from -40…+85 °C at a voltage of 8.4-65 VDC so that they can be used in 12V and 24V onboard power supplies. Their robust housings (V4A threaded barrel and PBT-GF30 for rectangular housing styles) are vibration and shock proof and offer a high resistance to rapid temperature changes and salt mist. The sensors offers large switching distances as standard and can be flush mounted, a particularly useful feature in the utility vehicle sector for protection against mechanical damage.
