Tamkeen and Yokogawa Joint Engineering Course Programme for Bahrainis

Fifty Bahraini graduate engineers will be trained by the experts in the Japanese firm of Yokogawa and equip themselves with careers that will use their specialist knowledge as systems engineers in a wide range of interconnected areas.

The BD 340,000 training deal signed between Tamkeen and Yokogawa is a received initiative under Tamkeen's Human Capital Development (HCD) programme. The whole programme is spread over five years and each batch will spend an intensive two years working through a three-phase study schedule that will combine three months of off-the-job training, nine months of on-the-job training and a year of Stage Training.

The trainees will gain basic knowledge on control and instrumentation and be introduced to Yokogawa Process Control Instruments with a major focus on DCS (Distributed Control System) engineering and design; during the second phase (on-the job training), the trainees will have the opportunity to be trained in the Engineering Division for actual projects. The third phase (the Stage Training) period is designed for the trainees to acquire further practical experience and knowledge possibly at other Divisions such as Technical Services and Sales.

"We believe that Bahrain has one of the best technical engineering education systems in the region and that Bahraini engineering graduates must leverage this advantage with playing a key role in the fast-evolving technological world," said Tamkeen Chief Executive Abdulellah Al Qassimi at the signing ceremony between Tamkeen and Yokogawa which took place at Yokogawa premises in Busaiteen.
