Siemens Releases ESP200 Overload Relays

Siemens Energy & Automation introduced self-powered ESP200 Overload Relays for industrial applications that replace the ESP100 Overload Relay. Configurable without software or manuals, Siemens claim the ESP200 line delivers repeat accuracy of 99 percent.

Versatile by design, the ESP200 takes the guesswork out of meeting numerous overload protection requirements. Field selectable Trip Class 5, 10, 20 or 30 can be set by two DIP-switches and the FLA dial allows for a wide adjustment range (4:1). According to Siemens, this configuration enables companies to reduce overload relay inventories by up to 40 percent.

The ESP200 line is also available with automatic and remote reset features. The relays are DIN rail mounted and feature removable terminals for fast change out without removing control wiring. Additionally, a visible trip indicator allows operators to identify overloads.

UL listed and CSA certified according to the strictest standards, Siemens also claim the ESP200 line offers ground fault protection that trips at 60 percent of motor current, thereby protecting motors from high resistance short circuits or ground faults due to moisture, condensation or insulation damage.
