Improved Industrial Energy Efficiency at Hannover Messe
At Hannover Messe between 19 and 23 April 2010, TÜV SÜD will present a comprehensive service package for enhanced energy efficiency. In addition to energy schemes for new plants and installations, the experts at the international provider of testing and certification services will present "Energy-Efficient System" certification and consulting services for energy management systems. TÜV SÜD can be found in Hall 13, Stand B17.
"Over half of all companies are still not giving energy-efficiency measures the attention they deserve", notes Dr Gerd Streubel, Head of Plant Engineering at TÜV SÜD Industrie Service in Dresden. "Yet, energy-efficiency measures could unlock significant potential for average savings of 15 to 30 per cent." At Hannover Messe, the experts from TÜV SÜD Industrie Service present their energy schemes for investment decisions, the "Energy-Efficient Systems" certificate and their services supporting the establishment and integration of energy management systems.
"Assessment at an early stage to analyse the cost-effectiveness of an investment from perspectives including operating costs and security of supply is the key to improved efficiency", explains Dr Streubel. TÜV SÜD's interdisciplinary teams of experts compare various alternatives of process and plant equipment. Modelling is applied to vary individual parameters, e.g. energy prices, and take into account specific maintenance costs or the possibility of subsidies. A systematic and integrated approach addresses not only the design of an installation, but also its technical infrastructure, including buildings and energy management.
"Manufacturers wishing to cut their operating costs and improve the sustainability of their production processes should make energy efficiency a criterion as early as the purchasing stage for their equipment", notes Dr Michael Bunk, Head of Energy Systems at TÜV SÜD Industrie Service in Dresden. "Given this, the informative and reliable documentation of energy consumption is becoming increasingly important." For this purpose, TÜV SÜD Industrie Service developed the "Energy-Efficient Systems" certificate, which has been tested in practice for over one year. Dr Bunk: "The TÜV SÜD certificate offers manufacturers impartial proof of the energy efficiency of their systems and installations and owners/operators benefit from lower energy consumption." According to the experts, these benefits outweigh the possibly higher costs of investment. On top of the above, improved resource efficiency also demonstrates sustainable operations to consumers.
