Honeywell Provides Operator Training Simulator to Bayin Guoleng Vocational and Technical College

Honeywell has announced that it has been selected to implement its award-winning UniSim Operator Training Simulator (OTS) solution in a new training facility at the Xinjiang Bayin Guoleng Vocational & Technical College in China. The facility – intended to be the most advanced simulation training centre in China – will significantly enhance on-site practical learning capabilities for all students studying industrial fields at the college.

Xinjiang Bayin Guoleng Vocational & Technical College is the only institution of full-time higher education in Bayin Guoleng, Kurle city, XinJiang province. It was established on February 19, 2002 with approval of the autonomous regional people’s government. The department of petrochemical technology successfully obtained a Nordic Investment Bank loan worth EUR 4 million for the purchase of teaching equipment in 2009.

Honeywell’s UniSim OTS, which won an Editors’ Choice Award from Control Engineering magazine in 2006, offers a series of unified simulation solutions from off-line use in steady-state design simulation, control check-out, and operator training, to online use in control and optimization, performance monitoring, and business planning. Regular training on the OTS will provide students with key knowledge and skills that would normally take years to accumulate on a plant floor.

"The active involvement of a global organization such as Honeywell is a source of inspiration and encouragement for our students,” said Professor Bai Yonghong, Bayin Guoleng Vocational & Technical College. “By bringing industry-leading technologies and solutions to the college, not only will there be a substantial improvement in the level of education provided, but it will also provide students with rewarding future career prospects.”

"Honeywell's UniSim process simulator will allow students to experience complicated plant operations from the safety of a classroom, greatly improving their skills from an early stage and reducing the likelihood of operator based errors in the future,” said Sam Wu, regional general manager Greater China, Honeywell Process Solutions. “We are pleased to be able to make our award winning technology available to engineering students through new training facilities such as this, which will be greatly beneficial to China's processing industry both now and in the future.”
