Hannover Messe 2010 to Demonstrate Efficiency, Innovation, Sustainability

Running under the keynote slogan of "Efficiency. Innovation. Sustainability." and showcasing more than 4,000 technical innovations, HANNOVER MESSE 2010 will open its gates on 19 April. "HANNOVER MESSE is demonstrating great vitality this year - despite the continued tough economic climate," declared Dr. Wolfram von Fritsch, Chairman of the Deutsche Messe Managing Board, on Thursday in Hannover. "We can already detect the first signs of an economic recovery and are witnessing a budding mood of optimism in a number of sectors," reported von Fritsch. Some companies are already registering a double-digit increase in the percentage of order volumes, Fritsch continued.

"We are confident of reaching around the same number of exhibitors as in the boom year of 2008," stated von Fritsch. Two years ago more than 4,800 companies exhibited at HANNOVER MESSE. "Exhibitors are telling us that they prefer to rely on the original, i.e. on HANNOVER MESSE, in times of crisis." Von Fritsch noted however that there was an increasing trend towards registering at the last minute. A little over three weeks before opening day of the event, more than 4,600 enterprises from 63 nations had registered, occupying display space of over 152,000 square meters. According to von Fritsch, this corresponded to the organizers' own projections: "In these times, this is a very solid result," he concluded.

With the addition of two new international flagship trade fairs, MobiliTec and CoilTechnica, HANNOVER MESSE 2010 has expanded its portfolio to include some key sectors of industry. "This has allowed us to reach new exhibitor groups," explained von Fritsch. "These two trade fairs have enabled us to further consolidate the strengths of HANNOVER MESSE. The advantages of a horizontal exhibition are now beginning to reap real dividends. Innovations are the result of concerted interaction between different sectors of industry," he commented.

Italy is the official "Partner Country" for the world's leading technology exhibition. German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Italian President Silvio Berlusconi will be opening the exhibition on Sunday, 18 April at 6:00 p.m. in the Hannover Congress Center.
