ABB to Supply ICE Solution for Indonesian Power Plant
ABB has won a contract from the appointed engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor, Daewoo Engineering Company, for a complete turnkey supply of the electrical balance of plant (EBoP), automation system and instrumentation package for a coal fired power plant.
The 2 x 60 MW (megawatt) captive power plant, located at Banten Province, on the island of Java, Indonesia, will be built by PT Merak Energi Indonesia, to provide power and process steam to PT Sulfindo Adiusaha, a chemicals producer in Indonesia.
ABB will be responsible for the complete system design, engineering, manufacturing, supply and commissioning of the complete ICE package for the power plant. Besides integrating different electrical equipment such as power transformers, low- and medium- voltage switchgears, ABB will also integrate the electrical and automation systems on a common high-end technology ABB control system platform, for increased efficiency and overall performance of the plant. ABB’s scope of supply also includes the Continuous Emission Monitoring System (CEMS), which will help to control and optimize the processes as well as improve the plant’s carbon footprint by continuously monitoring stack gas emissions. The power plant is scheduled for commissioning in January 2013.
"We are extremely proud to work with Daewoo for this project and to share our expertise in process knowledge, project management and global experience. Our total electrical, automation and instrumentation solution clearly places us ahead of our competition. This cooperation reinstates the fact that our customer finds us not just as a supplier but as a partner in achieving their endeavours. We are looking forward to work closely with them in future projects,†says Kenneth Stoddard, ABB’s manager for Power Systems division in South Asia.
