ABB Robots to Exhibit at China Science and Technology Museum
ABB has supplied its advanced industrial robots for the new hall of the China Science and Technology Museum. Tormod Gunleiksrud, head of ABB’s Robotics Division, North Asia Region and China, said, “As the pioneer and global leader in robotic technology, ABB possesses the broadest range of technology and services, with more than 160,000 units installed worldwide. We are honored to work with Beijing’s world-class science museum to present ABB’s advanced robotic technology. We are enthusiastic at the prospect of sharing our knowledge with the public and inspiring young people to become future innovators.â€
The ABB display, with a theme of “My Production Line,†is located in the Science, Technology, and Life Hall. The exhibit comprises two IRB 140 and two IRB1410 robots, and is able to perform three functions: welcoming the visitors, drawing a picture of them, and then autographing it. The program simulates a completely automated production line, providing the audience with a close-up experience of the entire manufacturing process.
The new hall of the China Science and Technology Museum is located in the Olympic National Park in Beijing. It took three years to complete construction with a total investment of around RMB2 billion. Officially opened this September, the new building has a total floor space of 40,000 square meters, and five exhibition halls named “Science Paradise,†“Light of China,†“Exploration & Discovery,†“Science & Technology and Life,†and “Challenge and Future.†There are over 800 standing exhibits, making it one of the world’s premier science and technology museums.
