ProSoft Releases Modbus to Profibus Gateway

-- Product News, 23 June 2009

Prosoft Technology announces the release of the Modbus TCP/IP to Profibus SE Gateway designed with special features to better support and integrate with Schneider Electric Modicon M340 processors. The gateway offers the new Application Communication Logic (ACL) feature built into the latest ProSoft Configuration Builder (PCB) software.
The ACL feature automatically generates Derived Function Blocks (DFBs) specific to the user’s application containing all logic required by the processor to manage cyclic and acyclic communication. The user can then import the files into the Unity Pro version 4 software without a single modification and without the burden of writing communications message logic.
Once the gateway and the network are operative, the acyclic pass-through feature allows processor-to-slave messaging without additional programming. Should the user need to make changes on the network, the gateway will regenerate the DFB files for import so that the user need not worry about the logic to communicate with the gateway.
Prosoft says that these ease-of-use features reduce engineering demands and time-to-deployment while creating a more tightly integrated and secure network infrastructure.
