ABB Selects Wurldtech Achilles for Control Systems Cyber Security

-- Business & Technology News, 16 December 2008

Wurldtech Security Technologies has announced that ABB has selected the Achilles Security Assurance Platform to enhance internal robustness testing best practices for its Ethernet-enabled control system portfolio.
By integrating Achilles into established product development processes, ABB, and other global equipment manufacturers of IP-based control systems can reduce business risk for their customers by proactively identifying, isolating and remediating vulnerabilities in process automation and control systems before they are deployed, says Wurldtech, minimizing downtime and improving the overall security, availability and integrity of global critical infrastructure.
“Global process automation vendors are continually looking for solutions to improve the security posture of their products and are rapidly adopting expert cyber-security testing as a crucial component of the development lifecycle,” said Tyler Williams, CEO and President of Wurldtech Security Technologies, Inc. “We are pleased to add ABB to our growing list of control system manufacturers who have chosen to leverage our Achilles technology to diagnose, mitigate and manage cyber-security risk from design through deployment.”
Developed specifically to address cyber security challenges unique to the industrial automation industry, the Achilles Satellite solution diagnoses known and unknown vulnerabilities in SCADA and process control systems. It has been deployed amongst global operators, systems integrators and vendors who supply and manage critical infrastructure in sectors such as power, energy, water, telecommunications, manufacturing, as well as military and intelligence.
