ABB Supplies Switchgear in China

ABB will supply Shanghai Baosteel with a 12kV Is-Limiter for protection from generator loop for Baosteel No.1 Blast Furnace TRT Project. ABB cliams this is the switchgear with largest capacity and fastest breaking speed in the world. ABB’s Is-Limiter will be supplied by ABB Xiamen Switchgear Co., Ltd and its delivery will be completed by the end of October. This is the first application of ABB’s Is-Limiter in the China market.

In January 2008, ABB Xiamen Switchgear Co., Ltd. started batch supply of Is-Limiter in China. Besides serving Chinese customers, Switchgears made by the company are also exported to countries such as Vietnam and Pakistan through system integrators to serve oversea power construction projects. The ABB Group has currently produced thousands of units of Is-Limiter for both AC and DC systems, especially in three-phase AC system.

Established in 1992, ABB Xiamen Switchgear Co., Ltd is the first joint venture company of ABB in China, and has currently become the world’s largest production and research base for medium voltage switchgear and vacuum circuit breakers, according to ABB.
