Smart Echo Processing Level Transmitter From Siemens

-- Product News, 28 June 2008

The Sitrans LR260 from Siemens Energy & Automation Inc. is a two-wire radar continuous level transmitter featuring Process Intelligence echo processing and 25GHz pulse technology. Designed for level measurement of solid medium, the LR260 can measure up to a distance of 98 feet, even in environments with extreme dust load and high temperatures up to 392°F (200°C), claims Siemens.
The transmitter can be programmed via the infrared handheld programmer or remotely using Simatic PDM via Hart or Profibus PA without opening the lid of the device, which preventing exposure of the electronics to the environments. A new graphical local user interface (LUI) displays echo profiles and diagnostic information. The transmitter includes self-diagnostics that communicate to the local display and across the mA loop or network.
A new “Process Intelligence” signal processing evaluates dynamic echo signals. It applies algorithms—based on field data collected from more than 1 million level measurement applications—to raw echoes, to produce accurate and reliable level measurement readings.
