ABB marked the eve of World Environment Day (June 5) to highlight two building projects in Singapore that were selected out of more than 5000 entries worldwide as one of the five nominees for the KNX award in Frankfurt, Germany – a global prize that recognizes the most innovative and technically advanced home and building control systems.

The National Library Board was nominated for the Special Award, while the Xilinx Asia Pacific Headquarters was nominated for the Energy Efficiency award. For both buildings, ABB customer OTTO Integrator implemented the company’s i-bus intelligent installation system, for twilight zoning control, motion sensors and switches.

ABB Singapore’s President and Country Manager, James Foo said, “We enable our customers to improve performance while lowering environmental impact. The ABB i-bus is one of the many ways ABB’s technology can help save energy, cut emissions, and reduce costs.

“More than ever before, ABB’s power and automation portfolios are delivering energy efficient products, systems and solutions to enhance the value of our stakeholders.”

“With ABB’s experience in NLB building and Xilinx, our upcoming projects to support building management systems will ensure more buildings in Singapore go greener and be energy efficient,” said Lim Say Leong, Assistant Vice-president for Marketing, Automation Products Division.

Lim also pointed out that ABB’s broad spectrum of technology offerings have the potential to reduce losses in the energy value chain by 20 to 30 percent.
