Mi n i a t u r e m o t o r manufacturer Portescap, a Danaher Motion Company, has announced the award of three ISO certifi cates for its manufacturing facilities in Mumbai, India: ISO 9001:2000 for quality management; ISO 14001:2004 for environmental management; and ISO 18001:2007 for occupational health and safety.
“We are proud to be among just a handful of companies worldwide to boast all three of these ISO certifications, and to be the world’s only miniature motor manufacturer to have each,” said Rutesh Joshi, General Manager of Portescap’s Brush Motor Business Unit and Managing Director of Portescap India.
“These certifications help substantiate Portescap’s commitment to being a world class company with world class facilities, as well as our goal to strike a healthy balance between engineering the highest quality miniature motion control products in the world and a sincere concern for and commitment to the environment and the well being of our employees.”
Portescap’s facility in India, which concentrates efforts on its Brush DC product line, has maintained a zero OSHA-reportable accident record since 1995, culminating in the ISO 18001 certification. ISO 14001 emphasizes the effort put into protecting the environment for future generations, demonstrated in large part by the choice of raw materials and the attention given to waste control and energy consumption in the production process, says Portescap.
Dedicated efforts in removing hazardous substances from Portescap products – starting with product development and continuing through to the manufacture of highly energy efficient green products – are at the center of the company’s vision in attaining ISO 14001 certification.
