Honeywell International has agreed to pay some US$720 million for Metrologic Instruments, the data capture and collection software company. Metrologic’s operations will be integrated with Honeywell Security, part of its Automation and Control Solutions business.
Metrologic, which makes laser and imaging bar code scanners, area imagers and rugged mobile computers, is majority-owned by Francisco Partners, a private-equity firm. Its revenue was $246 million in 2007, with about 65 percent of business coming from outside North America.
“The acquisition of Metrologic adds to the momentum we have generated throughout our ACS business, by focusing on high-growth industries, and is consistent with our disciplined approach to acquisitions,” said Honeywell ACS Chief Executive Roger Fradin.
“By building on our recent acquisition of Hand Held Products, a leading manufacturer of Automatic Identification and Data Collection (AIDC) solutions, we will be wellpositioned in a $16 billion industry with double-digit growth potential driven by the increased demand for information along the global supply chain.”
