Aberdeen Group Launches Study on Creating a PLM Ecosystem

The Aberdeen Group has completed a study, title "Integrating the PLM Ecosystem", based on a survey of over 270 manufacturers. The report reveals that Best-in-Class manufacturers are creating a PLM ecosystem to integrate data, processes, and systems in order to centralize product data within the PLM environment and make product related information available to the entire organization.The driving factors for manufacturers to integrate disparate applications are to streamline product development and change management processes and improve product development efficiency. "Based on our research, industry leaders are integrating business processes and product data across the multiple product development, data management, design, and analysis applications that make up the extended Product Lifecycle Management suite," stated Jim Brown, vice president and service director, global product innovation and engineering for the Aberdeen Group. "PLM integration improves efficiency, helping companies meet product launch dates and revenue targets."
