Intermec EA15 Scan Engine Used by Motion Computing for Healthcare ID

-- Business & Technology News, 23 April 2008

Intermec announced that its EA15 scan engine has been chosen by Motion Computing, a manufacturer of tablet PCs for the health care industry, to serve as the embedded bar code scanner for the C5 mobile clinical assistant (MCA) tablet PCs.
The Intermec EA15 omni-directional area imager embedded in the Motion C5 reads 1D and 2D bar codes on medications, patient and nurse IDs and medical equipment and disposables. Combined, these represent all critical parts of the five "rights" of medicine administration: right medication, right dosage, right patient, right route and right time.
"The Intermec EA15 scan engine was a logical choice to serve as a scanning foundation for the C5 Mobile Clinical Assistants," stated SVP of Operations for Motion Computing, Jerome Kearns. "The EA15 scanning performance allows clinicians to quickly, reliably and safely read all 1D and 2D bar codes used in a hospital with minimal effort, reducing chances of medication error and improving the quality of patient care."
"Since its launch, the EA15 engine has proven to be a highly reliable, high performance scan engine in many applications," said Director of OEM Sales for Intermec, Warren Rainer. "We are extremely pleased to be a key component of the C5 mobile clinical assistant platform."
