Invensys Process Systems has been awarded a multi-million dollar contract by Simon Carves to provide an InFusion Enterprise Control System through an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for PTT Polyethylene’s (PTT PE) 300,000 t/y LDPE plant that will be built at the Padaeng industrial estate inThailand.
“This is an indication of the growing interest in integrated enterprise control throughout the Asia Pacific region. The control system will consist of an integrated distributed control, emergency shutdown, operations data management and enterprise asset management solution. We are pleased to be working with Invensys for this project,” said John Priest, Simon Carves.
Through the contract, Invensys will provide an InFusion Operations Data Management System (ODS), Foxboro I/A Series distributed control system, Triconex emergency shutdown, and an Avantis integrated asset management system.
Set for 2010
The contract also includes provision of the open source PACTware user interface, which will enable PTT engineers to configure, commission, and manage all major intelligent field device communications protocols, including Hart, Profibus, and Foundation fieldbus.
The plant will be located at PTT PE’s existing complex in Map-Ta-Phut and is due on-stream in the first quarter of 2010, using ethylene supplied from the adjacent PTT PE ethane cracker plant as its raw material.
Invensys Process Systems Singapore will conduct site commissioning, installation and testing of all Invensys products. The project will be executed and staged out of the IPS Singapore office with some local project management in the UK.
Among the factors contributing to PTT’s decision to implement the InFusion system were Invensys’ ability to integrate its products tightly and cost-effectively, the promise of a single point of responsibility for integrated project management, and overall reduced risk in project delivery.
