Space-saving flowmeter for offshore applications

-- 1 March 2008

Engineers wondering where to locate liquid and gas flowmeters aboard offshore platforms, FPSO Vessels and subsea installations may like to take a look at the selfconditioning V-Cone Offshore Flow Meter from McCrometer, which requires a much reduced pipe straight-run and thus enables significant space and installation cost savings that can exceed the actual cost of the instrument.

The V-Cone no-moving parts design provides built-in flow conditioning, which nearly eliminates the multiple upstream/downstream straight pipe runs required by most flowmeter technologies. Its space-saving design has been especially useful in accommodating compressors in offshore applications.

In comparison to traditional DP instruments such as orifice plates and venturi tubes, the V-Cone Flow Meter design is inherently more accurate because the flow conditioning function is built-into the basic instrument.
