With the sale of the Power Systems business in 2007, Rockwell Automation accelerated its shift from a USbased hardware company to a more global technologydriven enterprise focused on integrated architecture, control products and automation solutions and services. 2007 fi nancial performance was also very strong, with revenues up 10 percent to US$5 billion.
Trends and challenges to watch out for in 2008 include real-time collaboration between suppliers, channels and customers in the connected enterprise; a widening range of business governance and compliance issues; and greater pressure on businesses to increase their effi ciency – especially in the area of energy costs and supply volatility.
To meet these challenges, manufacturers are looking to a convergence of control and information technology, and Rockwell will continue to grow its served markets by expanding the Logix control platform and investing in growth initiatives such as process control, safety, and manufacturing information software.
