NARESH KUMRA, BELDEN ASIA PACIFIC, PRESIDENT

-- 1 January 2008

2007 marked a big step forward for Belden in its transformation from a “good” western cable manufacturer to a “great” global signal transmission solutions provider. Asia is now 18 percent of our global sales, up from four percent in 2006, and non-cable sales have increased 8-10x.
We closed three major acquisitions: LTK, a highly reputed cablemaker in China, and two leading German industrial connectors/automation companies. We improved execution by adopting “strategic deployment” and lean principles. We also established a platform in Asia by acquiring local manufacturing and engineering capability, and signifi cantly expand sales and technical support resources.
In 2008, we expect continued build-out of commercial, industrial and public infrastructure – all core Belden markets, especially in China, India and parts of Southeast Asia. We expect continued proliferation of FOUNDATION Fieldbus in process industries and larger deployment of wireless with industrial Ethernet; both well served by Belden
