A celebration to inaugurate the new Harting plant in Zhuhai, China, is scheduled for 19 October 2007.
The opening, which Harting says marks a significant step forward in its development in China and Asia Pacific, will be witnessed by partners, customers and guests including the Zhuhai Mayor, China government officials, and the German Ambassador.
The Zhuhai manufacturing site, an investment of more than 12 million Euros, has a total floor area of more than 20,000 sqm and will be ready to serve customers by the end of 2007. In addition, Zhuhai HARTING Ltd will become the logistics, training and R&D center for Asia.
Currently Asia Pacific comprises just under 15 percent of group turnover, a figure Harting says it plans to increase given the region’s growing potential from factors including end-use market growth, manufacturing for export to world markets, and the rapid emergence of China as one of the major hubs for connector supplies.
As for products, the Zhuhai plant will supply mini coax connectors, two mm connectors, D-sub connectors, solenoids, backplanes, telecom/medical and industrial cable assemblies, heavyduty connectors, die casting and injection moulding, for applications in the energy, factory automation, transportation, telecom and medical equipment sectors.
