Invensys Process Systems has been recognized by RasGas as one of three key vendors contributing to the successful completion of the RasGas Phase 1 Expansion Project in Qatar. At the Awards Dinner held in Doha, RasGas Managing Director, Dr Mohammed Saleh Al Sada, presented an appreciation award trophy to Invensys executives K L Tan, Vice President, Asia Pacific Operations, and Bill Hunt, Qatar Country Manager.

The RasGas Phase 1 Expansion Project included the design, construction, and commissioning of RasGas LNG Trains 3, 4, & 5 and Offshore Platforms; with a total investment of approximately US$4 billion. Invensys supplied fully engineered control and safety solutions to meet the demands of the largest operating LNG Trains in the world. System components included Foxboro Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Triconex Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS), and Triconex Fire and Gas (F&G) protection systems.

In December 2006, Invensys announced that it had also been awarded an automation contract for the RasGas LNG Trains 6 and 7 onshore expansion project. When both new mega trains come on line by the end of 2008 and 2009, respectively, the RasGas LNG complex, located in Qatar’s Ras Laffan City, will be the world’s largest. The Invensys automation systems installed at the RasGas LNG complex (which also include the systems supplied for the Trains 1 and 2 projects in 1996), represent Invensys’ single largest base of systems installed in an LNG complex as well as the worlds largest integrated DCS network ever installed in an LNG plant.
