Mitsubishi Electric Corporation and Wonderware, a business
unit of Invensys, have announced an agreement under which both companies will facilitate and promote the use of Wonderware software with Mitsubishi hardware to provide best-in-class industrial solutions.As reported by ARC Advisory Group, the announcement was made
at the March MP2 (MELSEC Process Partners) Technical Forum in Nagoya. The Forum is held annually for Mitsubishi Process Control Partners Association members, who support, or use, derivatives of the MELSEC PLC for process control beyond typical factory automation applications. Such usage of PLC derivatives is termed“PLC-Keiso”, meaning process control by PLC.As for the Mitsubishi-Wonderware collaboration, agreed upon
activities include recommendation of Wonderware InTouch product by Mitsubishi to customers who require advanced monitoring capabilities, especially in medium-to-large installations. In addition, development efforts have been initiated to achieve tight integration of InTouch with Mitsubishi PX Developer, an integrated development environment for MELSEC-Keiso applications.The future development path of this collaboration includes
addressing Mitsubishi MES interface and e@Factory solutions, leveraging the Invensys Archestra architecture developed by Wonderware, and focusing on the object models for plant entities.
