Mitsubishi Electric Corporation and Wonderware, a business

unit of Invensys, have announced an agreement under
which both companies will facilitate and promote the use
of Wonderware software with Mitsubishi hardware to provide best-in-class industrial solutions.

As reported by ARC Advisory Group, the announcement was made

at the March MP2 (MELSEC Process Partners) Technical Forum in
Nagoya. The Forum is held annually for Mitsubishi Process Control
Partners Association members, who support, or use, derivatives
of the MELSEC PLC for process control beyond typical factory
automation applications. Such usage of PLC derivatives is termed
“PLC-Keiso”, meaning process control by PLC.

As for the Mitsubishi-Wonderware collaboration, agreed upon

activities include recommendation of Wonderware InTouch product
by Mitsubishi to customers who require advanced monitoring
capabilities, especially in medium-to-large installations. In addition,
development efforts have been initiated to achieve tight integration of
InTouch with Mitsubishi PX Developer, an integrated development
environment for MELSEC-Keiso applications.

The future development path of this collaboration includes

addressing Mitsubishi MES interface and e@Factory solutions,
leveraging the Invensys Archestra architecture developed by
Wonderware, and focusing on the object models for plant entities.
